my happy place: New York's NoMad

if i had a million reasons before, i now have a million and one...i need to go to new york.  i think i need to go to new york and i need to stay at the NoMad in New York's North of Madison Square Park district (get it? NoMad...North Madison).  classic, warm and so livable that i may contemplate moving in...

The Beaux-Arts building was meticulously restored by french architec/interior and garden designer jaques garcia and i do think he has created the epitome of livable extravagance.

my happy place...

wait!  before you get lost in this beautiful interior, register for this extremely generous lisa leonard design giveaway...go do it!

i am not ashamed to admit it...i have a massive design crush on portland designer, jessica helgerson.  i have proclaimed my love for her on bliss in the past (and you should really check it out), but since my latest glimpse of jessica's site i am just plain silly.  all silly because of the tiny house she and her family have been residing in for the last several years.  she chose this home because she wanted to live simply and environment friendly..."an experiment in reuse and reduction."  love that!  Refusing to change the footprint of this structure, it was all about making the best use of space; creating magical nooks and just the right amount of charm.  it doesn't hurt that this home sits on one of my favorite portland destinations, sauvie island...5 acres of magic...

yep, a huge crush!  when the frenches finally settle down, jessica will be a part of my dream space i just know it!  xo mrs. french

shareen joel

yep, as far as i can tell i love everything about shareen joel's aesthetic.  she is an incredibly talented designer, in sense of the word, out of australia and her "weekender" is perfect.  i am pretty sure that you have absolutely no choice but to relax in these surroundings...

maybe the whole craving a perfect home thing is silly for the frenches...i am thinking we need a seren weekender instead and everything else would fall into place.

oh and i really can't imagine moving on without sharing some images from shareen's portfolio...long posts are never a bad thing...

so worth the space right?

my happy place...

if you missed my previous post today, and happen to think you would love a sponsorship spot on my bliss, please contact me...

anyway...

it's tuesday...and it's chaotic around here.  miss lu is teething something awful and gus the puppy is sweet, but sometimes i feel like the two of them are out to get me. :)  however, i must say i wouldn't have it any other way.

besides the delightful crazy that is my life, i am drowning in stuff...lu's stuff, b's stuff, my stuff, and mr. french's stuff.  it doesn't matter how many times i move it or reposition it, i am still surrounded!  since i haven't really figured out how to get rid of all of our worldly possessions i will turn to a home that seems perfectly void of clutter...

do you feel the cool breeze of clutter-free surroundings?  the only items on the floor are lovely baskets and the walls are perfectly void of too much of anything.  perhaps tomorrow i would find this home to be a bit too empty, but today i am going to pretend i live here for a few minutes...
